Sunset in Abaco Bahamas

One of my favorite sunsets.  I took this photo a few years back and it has always been one of my favorite shots. The clouds look like a painting and the background of the blue sky and the foreground of the pine trees just make this picture perfect to me. Of course, another reason this photo is so dear to me is because I took it from my yard, my country, my home. I do miss it there. There’s no place like home they say but the sun is one in the same no matter what part of the world you’re in.

I don’t take the time to photograph sunsets like I should. Maybe I should see if I could hold to a goal of trying to photograph one sa week. I’m sure I wouldn’t regret it if I captured several new sunset images to add to my collection. Once the sun sets, that’s it, that sunset will never be again. As a photographer, I wouldn’t think it’d be too difficult to capture at least fifty new sunsets a year. I need to work on that.

A favorite Bible verse of mine says: The Heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands. (Psalm 19:1) I think this is very true and observable in sunsets, 365 days a year.

I never really change my camera to any special settings for sunsets, I just shoot and everything turns out okay. My photography is motivated by the way I see things. The only way I can describe it is by what I’ve been told by others, “You have a good eye.” I recognize and appreciate the compliment but I also am thankful for what the strong colors of a sunset can add to an image. Like the song says, God painted better than Michaelangelo.
